It's the first question every seller asks us: "What is my batch worth?" A fair question — and one that deserves an honest answer. In this article we explain transparently which factors determine the value of a batch of electric motors, so you know where you stand before you offer.
Factor 1: Brand and type
Not every motor is equally marketable. Leading brands such as Siemens, ABB, SEW Eurodrive and WEG are used worldwide, which means there is almost always demand — including for older series on the replacement market. A common type in a common frame size finds a new owner faster than an exotic special version, and that translates directly into the price.
Factor 2: New, used or defective
The biggest price difference lies in the condition. Motors that are new in original packaging fetch the most: the buyer knows for certain they are getting an unused product. Well-kept used motors with a legible nameplate also have market value, especially for common types. And even defective motors are not necessarily worthless — state the condition honestly and we will factor it transparently into our offer.
Factor 3: Quantities and composition
Identical or mixed — both kinds of batches are of interest to us, each for its own reason. A mixed batch from a warehouse clearance often contains exactly the variety our buyers are looking for: different types and frame sizes together serve a much broader replacement market. So feel free to offer everything you have — no need to sort or split anything beforehand. Larger volumes also mean more efficient transport, and we pass that advantage on in our offer.
Factor 4: Current market demand
The trade in industrial components is a living market. Manufacturer lead times, projects starting up somewhere in Europe, scarcity in certain frame sizes: it all influences what your batch is worth today. Because we trade in this market every day, we know exactly where the demand is — and we bid based on current market knowledge, not an outdated price list.
Why selling almost always beats scrapping
At the scrap dealer, your motor is weighed: you get the per-kilo price of the metal. With us, your motor is valued for what it is — a working industrial product that a buyer somewhere is waiting for. The difference is typically a multiple of the scrap price. Read more about why reuse pays off →
